Day 1: Home-> Buenos Aires, AR
Fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina; Meet Edutrips Representative at baggage claim & our coach bus will transfer us to our hotel. Today we will take in all the major sights including a behind-the-scenes visit to the Teatro Colón Opera House, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Government Palace (Casa Rosada), the colorful La Boca district, the tough port barrio and working class heart of Buenos Aires, and San Telmo, home and birthplace of the sultry tango.
Day 2: San Antonio De Areco
Today we will learn about the Gaucho culture in Argentina as we visit the old land of the gauchos in the ancient frontier with the Indian tribes: the area of San Antonio de Areco. San Antornio de Areco is a tiny colonial town that has beautiful architecture from the early 20th century, when Argentina was having an economic boom. You will visit some of the well known artisans, who show us their workshops and how they produce. Then you will enjoy a traditional lunch at one of the exclusives establishments of the area. You will spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful gardens, riding horses, looking the rural activities or bird watching. Before going back to Buenos Aires you will have tea or coffee or the traditional mate with homemade cakes and typical Argentine bakery.
Day 3: Iguazu
This morning we will fly from Buenos Aires to Iguazu. Upon arrival we set out for your first glimpse of the falls by exploring the Argentinean side of Iguazu Falls and watch the cascading water from various angles. You will board a small train to Devil’s Throat Station, where there’s a suspended walkway with spectacular views. Later explore the two walking circuits, beginning with the upper walk. From here you can see the Two Sisters, Bosseti, Adam and Eve, Bernabe Mendez, Mbiguá and San Martín Falls. The lower circuit has been described as the “most beautiful thousand meter walk in the world.” Heading in a clockwise direction you get a very different perspective of the falls; watch out when you get to the middle of the walkway – you might get wet!!
After breakfast, venture out to visit the Brazilian side of the national park. This side of the falls offers by far the best panoramic views, and arguably the most spectacular jungle landscapes.
After lunch we will return to Argentina and you will spend the rest of the day exploring the town of Puerto Iguazu.
Day 5-6: Mendoza
This morning we will fly to Mendoza the home of the mighty Acouncagua, the tallest mountain on Earth after the Himalayas mountain range. We will spend the next 2 days discovering Mendoza. You will enjoy a scenic drive along the National route 7 (the road to Chile), making stops at the most important highlights. You will also lean about the agricultural oasis that is Mendoza as we visit two prestigious wineries. Lastly we will experience an exciting rafting adventure in the Mendoza River.
Day 7: Perito Moreno Glacier
This morning we fly south to the picturesque town of El Calafate. Upon arrival you will spend the day relaxing and getting to know El Calafate, capital of Argentina’s glacier country. As you take a stroll through the heart of town, you’ll notice the locals are deservedly proud of their well-kept gardens and the colorful blooms that thrive in this temperate climate.
Day 8: Perito Moreno Glacier
Today we set out by bus over Peninsula Magallanes, an area of wide barren plains, to witness the awesome spectacle of the famous Perito Moreno Glacier. The dominating 60 metre high face of this virtual sea of ice thunders as it twists and cracks, intermittently sending giant shards plummeting into the waters below.
Day 9: Buenos Aires → home
Today we will return to Buenos Aires and catch out flights home
